Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, officially known as Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater, is an engaging remake of the classic Metal Gear Solid 3. However, this modernization has led Konami to make adjustments to the game’s difficulty, as the new mechanics made it easier than intended.

According to the creative producer Yuji Korekado in an interview, two distinct gameplay modes are available for players: Legacy Style and New Style. The Legacy Style closely mirrors the original 2004 title, utilizing a fixed, top-down camera perspective. Conversely, the New Style introduces players to modern gaming mechanics, allowing them to move while aiming, fundamentally altering the core gameplay experience.



In the traditional Legacy Mode, players find themselves restricted to a stationary position when aiming. This design choice was implemented to balance the gameplay, as enemies had time to react before being shot. However, with the New Style mode’s added feature of moving and shooting simultaneously, players can now easily eliminate enemies with less effort. Korekado stated, 'New Style provides a wider, linear field of view, and you can shoot your gun while moving Snake, which made the difficulty lower than we had expected.' This insight reveals that Konami recognized the challenge in maintaining balanced gameplay across different styles. If the difficulty were adjusted for the New Style, the Legacy Style would become excessively challenging, requiring the development team to split the experience into two separate play styles.

As a result, players can expect two varying levels of difficulty in Metal Gear Solid Delta, but they have been carefully tailored to ensure both modes provide an equally satisfying experience. The aim is to allow players to enjoy nostalgic gameplay while also experiencing the enhancements brought by modern developments.
